The Holiday Play (Ratcatcher Bonus)

by The Crux

1.
It seems like every little pipsqueaks got a reason To put on a holiday play But did you know this used to be my season When night devours the day? And the Earth has spun around And we all are upside down With our heads under the ground We're as cold as the clay I climb the dusty path up to the schoolhouse Leaning on my walking stick I spy the bony tangles of the fruit tree Pushing up by the creek See its branches bending low I can hear them moan and groan And they're going to snap, I know If the fruit isnt picked And there's a stranger on the road A storms to come, Im told And you know that mischief makes the world For every boy and girl The town is all lined up What a pack They say the theater cost Quite a stack And emerging from the thicket Now Im paying for my ticket Get a chocolate covered biscuit And my head is feeling weak And I can feel it in my bones A storms to come, Im told And you know that mischief makes the world For every boy and girl I smell the batter of another bake sale Wave to the Waverly Twins I sit down to take my little nap now While the pleasant performance begins And hanging from a rope Old Coyote tells a joke And the windowlatch is broke And the rain is creeping in And we will pay what we have owed A storms to come, Im told And you know that mischief makes the world For every boy and girl One by one, the children put their costumes on And dress for the Holiday Play Our cheeks are dripping wet, but please try to forget Just remember your lines in the Holiday Play A cheerful glaze coating us like mayonnaise Break a leg there kiddo, its the Holiday Play Hear all the neighbors say it Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah Blah blah blah blah blah blah Holiday Play

LYRICS

It seems like every little pipsqueaks got a reason
To put on a holiday play
But did you know this used to be my season
When night devours the day?
And the Earth has spun around
And we all are upside down
With our heads under the ground
We're as cold as the clay

I climb the dusty path up to the schoolhouse
Leaning on my walking stick
I spy the bony tangles of the fruit tree
Pushing up by the creek
See its branches bending low
I can hear them moan and groan
And they're going to snap, I know
If the fruit isnt picked

And there's a stranger on the road
A storms to come, Im told
And you know that mischief makes the world
For every boy and girl

The town is all lined up
What a pack
They say the theater cost
Quite a stack
And emerging from the thicket
Now Im paying for my ticket
Get a chocolate covered biscuit
And my head is feeling weak

And I can feel it in my bones
A storms to come, Im told
And you know that mischief makes the world
For every boy and girl

I smell the batter of another bake sale
Wave to the Waverly Twins
I sit down to take my little nap now
While the pleasant performance begins
And hanging from a rope
Old Coyote tells a joke
And the windowlatch is broke
And the rain is creeping in

And we will pay what we have owed
A storms to come, Im told
And you know that mischief makes the world
For every boy and girl

One by one, the children put their costumes on
And dress for the Holiday Play

Our cheeks are dripping wet, but please try to forget
Just remember your lines in the Holiday Play

A cheerful glaze coating us like mayonnaise
Break a leg there kiddo, its the Holiday Play

Hear all the neighbors say it
Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
Blah blah blah blah blah blah
